prediction of earthquakes ?
No, till now, we are not able to successfully
predict accurately the, earthquakes.
The only, correct prediction was in 1974
(china).the earthquake took place at 7:36 pm,
rocked the city of haicheng, china.thanks, to
this prediction, there were very little
causality………..the magnitude on Richter scale
was 7.3.
The local people of this city helped the
authorities, to predict this earthquake, by
reporting them, a very odd behavior of animals
and drop in water level in the wells.
When, tsunami was about to occur in Andaman
and nicobar island, it was reported that
animals and birds showed a very odd behavior.
There are many theories for predicting
earthquakes, try to use yourself……
· Some, say, we can predict the happening of
earthquake, by noticing the movements of stars.
· There is a high probability, that, if an
earthquake has occurred at a particular place,
there may be an another strike soon.
· One possibility might be the study of faults in
the rocks. When the tectonic plates move, they
build a strain in the rocks.
· Scientists have noticed, tilting of ground in the
epicenter or near it, just weeks or months
before a strike.
· Scientists have noticed, the release of gases
before an earthquake.
· Electricity can be conducted through the
ground, and some scientists believe that
monitoring the electric current through certain
types of rocks
might predict earthquakes.....
Why do Earthquakes occur-
Earthquakes are caused mostly by rupture
of techtonic plates, but, it can be caused due
to volcanic activities, landslides, mine blasts,
and nuclear experiments.
Effects of Earthquakes-
severe damage to the buildings,city
infrastructure,nature.....
--landslides are a major, problem in hilly
areas,if an Earthquake of high intensity
occurs in these areas.
-- In areas along the coast, if an Earthquake
occurs,it may result in Tsunami......
